Getting ready for your SAT

by Koustabh Dolui
This lesson is all about how to get prepared for your SAT being an international applicant. This is on the basis f admission for 2009.

Step I

Select about a 70 to 80 schools and request them for information.Send them your name, hich subject you are interested in studying, what is the expenditure etc via e-mail.
Some of the schools will reply your mails with proper information that you ad asked for previously.Do away with this by month of July.

The school finder on Learnhub will help you.

Step II

Get prepared for your SAT.Take several tests on Learnhub and you’ll be well prepared.Join the SAT prep community. Its very helpful.

Do away with the tests by the month of November. You have 2 upcoming SAT tests before November,so you don’t have much time.Best of Luck!!!

You will receive your scores by 1 month after you’ve taken the tests.
You have to opt for TOEFL also which is a must for international applicants.

Step III

After you receive your SAT scores make a list of 5-6 schools you want to apply. Then collect application forms from the schools.Apply with all the required information. You have to write a creative essay on a given topic.Your application should be very attractive and creative,it shold stand out from others.

Learnhub will help you to write an application.

Step IV

You may receive a letter of approval from schools to which you sent applications.Time to prepare a student VISA.Then its time to pack you bags off to USA/Canada……..

Financial matters

Studying in a school in the USA or Canada is very costly.
The annual fee ranges from $4000 to$13000 per annum(includes all charges). There are scholarships though

1.Full scholarship(rare)
2.Partial scholarship(often)
3.None(most often)

You are allowed to work 20 hours per week on campus, which can fetch you about $2000 per annum.

You study in a school for 4 years. So you get 4 summer holidays in which you can work for a firm or Company gaining valuable work experience and financial support….

I hope this will help you people getting prepared for SAT….

Great lesson Koustabh! This is an amazing resource and even better coming from an international applicant perspective!

Also, it may be pretty time consuming looking up 70 to 80 schools you're interested in. However you probably still want to find the best options out there for you. I would suggest posting your area of study, as well as your preference of school or location in our where do you wish to study? discussion and we'll try to find a school that matches what you'll looking for. Also as Koustabh has mentioned, LearnHub's school finder is a great way to request information from prospective schools.
