Every week Learnhub's team will post one question each on Verbal Ability and Quantitative Ability of the GMAT Test Preparation

Kevin decided to share his property among his three sons in the following manner. Of the total property one-third is kept for him and his wife. Of the remaining property three-fourth is given to his first son. The remaining property is equally divided between the second and third son. If the total property of Kevin is worth 60,000$ find the worth of the property received by his third son.

A. 4000 $
B. 5000 $
C. 6000 $
D. 4800 $
E. 5200 $

So,folks here are the correct answers

Sentence Correction
The correct answer is B. Both B and D will fit the first blank (snarl, rage), but the word provocation (that which incites) is clearly better than corroboration (that which makes certain).

Problem Solving
The correct answer is B.

Kevin has kept one-third of his property i.e.1/3Ã-60,000=20,000 $ for him and his wife
So the worth of the remaining property = 40,000 $
Of this,his first son received three-fourth i.e 3/4Ã-40,000=30,000 $
Given that the remaining amount i.e. 10,000 $ is shared by his second and third son equally.
Thus the amount received by his third son = 5000 $.
