I just wanted to ask if we will be asked about harmonic, arithmetic and geometric means (sequences and series) in the SAT. If yes then what will be the difficulty level of the questions?
Most likely you will not see too many sequence and series questions on the SAT. The harmonic series will most likely not be on there at all (but it’s a fun series you should know just for general knowledge). As for arithmetic and geometric, these series may be featured. You will be able to solve these problems without knowing any formulas or terms, but the formulas will be a quick shortcut that may save you some time.
The difficulty level of these questions should be fairly easy, if you’ve gone over my lesson and the follow up test, you should be good to go.
I have been asked to explain the proper way to solve the following question:
if John can build a plane in 2 days and Sam can build one in 4 days and Max can build it in 6 days…..how long would it take if three of them would build a plane together….?
Well, this is a rates question. So, we have 3 different rates, and we’re looking for the total rate. This is easier then you think. If each of the people takes x days to build one plane, the rate of plane building for that person is 1/x. Then the total rate for the 3 people would be 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/6 = 11/12. But we’re not asked for the rate, we need the time, and in order to find that we need to flip it around again- 12/11= 1.09 days.
This is all a simple manipulation of the r=n/t, the rate of doing something equals the number of times you do it over the time it takes you to do it.

yeh i have the same question. my vocabulary being very weak is there any way i can push myself to gives SATs???..
Hi Disha and Arushi,
Not to worry, everyone’s vocabulary is weak in their first stages of preparation.
Thankfully, there’s tons of resources on LearnHub to help you out. Why not try your hand at in our SAT Question Bank, you’ll find hundreds of different questions, hundreds of them being SAT vocabulary questions! Also, our vocabulary test and the TOEFL vocabulary test are great practice, as is the amazing word power test made by a fellow student, Astha!
Try them out and see how you find them. I’m sure you’ll learn tons on here! And if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to post!

Hi aarushi, I know your vocabulary is not so weak… just push a little harder! You are near to perfect!
