Hughes has branded the entire Indian race as bad in one shot. This is in bad taste. One drop does not make a rain nor does one tree make a grove. Because one corporate chief as Kenneth Lay of Enron fame was a fraud, can the entire US Corporate be called fraud? Just because one Nixon lied, are all American Presidents liars? Just because one Clinton indulged in adultery, can we brand all Americans as adulterers? Hughes must realize that these are individualistic matters and are not ethnic traits. There are bigger cheats than Indians in the world. By his impetuous and intemperate vitriol, Hughes has not only revealed his immaturity, but also his necrotic mindset. Somewhere at the bottom of his heart, he is afraid that Indians will one day outscore the US guys in SAT. It will be interesting to note that the mean SAT score for the White is 1579 in 2007 as compared to 1605 for the Asian Community. (The ethnic names are as given by the College Board) After all SAT is a US test and hence one can understand Hughes’ outburst against Indians A score of 2300 plus in SAT is nor more than a day dream for the average and the above average Americans.
Let me now compare Hughes with DJM. ; DJM told a silly lie but that lie may not harm others. But Hughes has spewed venom against a particular race and his behavior is more loathsome and condemnable. We all do appreciate that America is a great country and all Americans are lovable people. Now and then, here and there, a few aberrations like Hughes may be there but let us ignore them
But what DJM has done is despicable. Poor fellow could not even add up to 2400. It must be a lesson for the youngster now. Where can he go now from here? He must understand that if he tries to cheat others, God wall cheat him (punish him) in the most humiliating manner. He should now take a vow not to lie in his life ever again. Then he can become one of the best students.
A note to DJM: Dear DJM. Let bygone be bygone. After all to err is human. The correct course for you now is to admit your fault and say that you seek a pardon from the members. Send out an open apology. This will not only redeem your honor, but also earn appreciation from the members of your community for your courage to admit your mistakes and feel remorse. A youngster like you has a long way to go as yet. If you do the same mistake again, there will be no pardon.
