Your official SAT core card shows your current score along with the scores also for 6 SAT and subject tests. Basically – the college you’re applying to, will know about your previous score(s).

You may take the SAT for the second time if you are confident about your preparation and you’ve identified where you can make improvements (if required).

Btw, you’ve posted this in a debate – given the topic, it’s more appropriate to post this as a discussion.

    I agree. (that’s a joke)

Anyway, yes, the schools do get to see your past scores. However, many schools don’t pay attention to them and don’t use them in their calculations, while other schools may use an average of current and past scores to calculate admission criteria. You should contact a specific school to ask how they use SAT scores, although I think most of them only look at the most recent score.

For the other question- some people will say that most often, if you retake the SAT you’ll score about the same as you did on the first attempt. I personally disagree, since I think that once you know the test format, if you study enough you should be easily able to score higher on a second attempt. Unless you dramatically change the study style you’re using though, I wouldn’t think it’s likely that you go up 600 points, but nothing is impossible. Study hard enough and you’ll get the mark you deserve.
