"Big Bang Theory is the most important scientific thoughts of today" (Discussion)

adsl saidThu, 09 Oct 2008 12:03:53 -0000 ( Link )

Big Bang Theory is related to discuss the creation of the universe. This theory was born of the observation that other galaxies are moving away from our own at a great speed, in all directions, as if they had all been propelled by an ancient explosive force. Before Big Bang, scientists believe, the entire vastness of the observable universe, including all of its matter and radiation, was compressed into a hot, dense mass just a few millimeters across. This nearly incomprehensible state is theorized to have existed for just a fraction of the first second of time. Big Bang proponents suggest that some 10 billion to 20 billion years ago, a massive blast allowed all the universe’s known matter and energy—even space and time themselves—to spring from some ancient and unknown type of energy. The theory maintains that, in the instant a trillionth—trillionth of a second after the big bang, the universe expanded with incomprehensible speed from its pebble-size origin to astronomical scope. Expansion has apparently continued with accelerating velocity. Astronomers say that within whole universe only 10% is visible and the rest 90% is unknown even now which is called “Dark Matter”. The characteristics of the dark matter is not similar to our known particle, but it is probably weakly interacting massive particle. These particles are so that they response to only one force out of four kinds of forces in our universe. Probably the force is generated by the unity of four kinds of forces(Gravitational force, Weak force, Electromagnetic force& Strong force) is responsible for the expansion of the universe.

Interesting thought. However, there are a number of other scientific theories/discoveries/inventions that can give it a run for the money.

To name a few – Genomics, bio-tech, stem cell research and so on. They are limitless in terms of their potential for impact on humanity.

What do you think? A very thought provoking topic though. Thanks for starting the debate!

The Big Bang theory is definitely “big”. All people have wondered where the universe came from, I’m sure. But in terms of its importance and popularity today, I think people are looking more towards the future than to the past. This would probably include research on cancer and other diseases as well as environmental science, for keeping our world clean for future generations.

Absolutely, it`s the one theory that has had the most impact on all of the theories of space and time, or in general, Eisenstein relativity. Its given us the practical understanding of how our universe that we live in Today, evolved from a situation in which even space and time did not exist.

The theories that arouse from the fact that space is expanding, changed the view of space, some thing that we take for granted, once and for all even the great Eisenstein had to accept that the idea of the cosmological constant was wrong.

Its given us the feel that space is indeed something that can be deformed, accelerated , torn(black hole). This freedom to understand the seemingly impossible phenomenon and entities in nature is what the great subject PHYSICS is intended for, and this is achieved beyond doubt by the Theory of the BIG BANG thus it can be called the most important scientific thoughts of today.

Al tough many other theories like the QED and string theory have achieved the same, they aren`t as beautiful and simple as the BIG BANG theory.

YES, I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU ALL. VERY RECENTLY, THE LHC WAS MADE TO FIND ABOUT THE BIG BANG THEORY.WE HOPE IT WILL VERY FAST TRACE ABOUT IT. AND MANY YOUNGSTERS WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO KNOW ABOUT THE PAST AND FUTURE OF OUR MOTHER EARTH. THEY ARE KNOW VERY EAGERLY TO KNOW ABOUT IT. SO I THINK THE SUBJECT IS VERY PERFECT AND IT WILL BE POPULAR. Its written wrong, i agree

Yeah, it may be possible, but still everything is dark in the dark universe around us.

It is probably the very base of the universe composition.

What can you say about black holes??

Surely , it’s a very mindblowing research on the origin of our universe . But i think if we can do something very useful for the future of our world , which can directly impact millions , through the findings of this theory only then we can rate thisresearch as the best .

the search for answers relating to the big bang has definitely given people a run for their money, and its recently only that their prayers been answered.Scientists are now trying to recreate the exact conditions prevailing just seconds before and after the massive explosion, paving the way for greater discoveries ,which almost seem miraculous. i definitely agree with the motion

first we should concentrate on our earth’s problems b’cos we are its stewards. It is deteriorating day by day, all are looking to discover other worlds. what is the use of finding new home if you are not able to your own home?
